In the fashion industry, designers are always exploring new avenues and trying out innovative techniques to come up with unique and captivating collections. Junichi Abe, the designer behind Kolor, has significantly impacted the field with his imaginative and intricate designs.

Abe’s designs can be described as “new minimalism”, though they are anything but minimalistic. Instead, they showcase intricate details and unexpected color combinations, making them extravagant and attention-grabbing.

Abe’s design process is hands-on as he manipulates fabric until it reaches its ideal form. This is evident in the final product, which often features coat linings on the outside, turned inside out blazers, and prominent brand labels displayed on the lapels.

One of Abe’s standout design elements is placement, with twisted or folded collars, and buttoned cuffs that add a contemporary spin to the oversized Victorian sleeve. This creates a sense of intrigue and wonder, leaving the wearer wondering what other surprises they may find in the garment.

Abe also takes risks with his materials and accessories, transforming traditional garments like trench coats into skirts and incorporating a mixture of materials into his accessories, like sneakers with tiny spikes and buckles.

However, the most remarkable aspect of Abe’s designs is the use of layers, skillfully combining several pieces to create chic and sophisticated looks that are not overpowering.
