Dundas’ Newest Collection Is A Love Letter To His Family

After a highly anticipated comeback to the runway, Peter Dundas makes an elegant salute to the Norwegian naval links throughout his family tree

Peter Dundas brought his first show in four years to Paris’ decadent OpĂ©ra Garnier last night, where he rolled out the red carpet – literally. Dundas stated that Paris has always been his favourite place to do shows and that it made sense to come back to the city where he lived the longest out of his adult life.

This season, the Dundas girl was presented in a more elegant version, with a focus on sensuality rather than sexiness. The starting point for the collection was Dundas’ family history, particularly his Norwegian naval heritage, which was reflected in the floor-sweeping statement coats with naval details such as gold buttons and broad lapels. Dundas describes the collection as a “love letter to my family,” and this sentiment was further expressed through the use of sailor trousers in buttery suede and understated epaulettes.

The designer cleverly incorporated chunky half-zip knitwear into the collection, which added a Nordic feeling to the pieces. While the emphasis on the female form remained, Dundas opted for sheer gowns and spiderweb crochet on the bodice to float around the form.
